Silver Leaves #3 ~ thank you!

We would like to thank everyone for their gracious reception of this special issue of Silver Leaves.

We are now inviting submissions for issue 4!

Call for Submissions to Silver Leaves #4

We are now calling for submissions to the fourth issue. The theme of this upcoming issue will be focused on Dragons, keeping the upcoming Hobbit films in mind. Your artwork submissions, and all academic, journalistic, reflective, and creative submissions related to the fascinating subject of Dragons are most welcome. We do have limited room for creative and non-fiction submissions relating to Tolkien’s work or other highly regarded fantasy works that may fall outside of the theme of Issue 4.

The deadline for all submissions is October 15, 2010. Publication is set for spring, 2011.

Order Silver Leaves Issue 3 now!

The theme for this issue is “Tolkien / Fantasy Art and Artists” and we are very grateful for the generosity of artists like Tim Kirk, Ted Nasmith, Colleen Doran, Jef Murray, Hyatt Moore, Anke Eissmann, David Wyatt, Virginia Lee, John Dickenson and many others. This special issue is quite a bit larger than normal (with as many goodies as we can tuck in) and will be specially bound with featured artwork gloriously presented in full-colour.

Silver Leaves #2: the video!

Many Branches

There are groves of fandoms out there, each one filled with branches whispering stories, your stories. SL introduces Many Branches, where we’ll capture those stories and tell them throughout the pages of the journal. For Issue 2, we continue to focus on how you’ve been Inspired by Tolkien. His work has inspired people to do many things: write, paint, sculpt, help the environment, help others and even help themselves. Have you been inspired by Tolkien’s work, or by his life? Tell us how! Submit your answer (maximum 50 words) on our forum or by emailing us with “Many Branches” in the subject line.

Dear Gandalf...

Do you have a conundrum? Some unsolvable issue that needs a wizard's help? We’ve contracted some special assistance for you from your helpful Middle-earth wizard! Send him your puzzling “Dear Gandalf” question. We're sure he has the answer! Submit your questions by emailing us with “Dear Gandalf” in the subject line.

Sounding the horn of Buckland!

Awake all folk who love Tolkien, fantasy or mythology (or all three)! Fuse your passions with your love of community and join the Silver Leaves team today! We are currently looking for people to help with sales / advertising and content editing. Please email us. We look forward to hearing from you!

Knight of the White Tree

Since TWTF started in 2004, we’ve received many treasured stories of people helping each other in large and small ways. Do you know of a person or a group that deserves special recognition for efforts on behalf of others? We would love to hear those inspirational tales (maximum 200 words). You can also nominate a person or group for a Knight of the White Tree recognition award. Post your story on our forum or email us with “Knight” in the subject line. If you would like to nominate the person or group, please include the sentence, “I would like to nominate (name of person or group) as a Knight of the White Tree.”
